What is Taeyong’s newsletter?
I decided to start this newsletter as an artistic admirer of Taeyong. Despite Taeyong having a phenomenal fan following - over 8 million Instagram followers and 2 million Spotify listeners, there is little out there in the writing space tackling the how and why of what makes Taeyong tick. There are wonderful supportive fan sites and websites, however, when it came for me to try and find likeminded people to discuss his art, music and dance, I found Twitter the only space- and we all know how toxic that space can be. Whilst I don’t purport to be an expert on anything, I do see connections between Taeyong’s art and expression, and how certain elements from pop culture may have influenced it. So here I am. Sharing my musings with others in the hope that a culture of appreciation and analysis, reflection and understanding of his art emerges. The term ‘fan’ has been much maligned these days particularly in the Kpopsphere. We need a new space to rewrite the Taeyong narrative- one in which Taeyong supporters, admirers and experts of his art can come together as one. Taeyong’s Aficionados.
